For some people vacation deals to Caribbean represent much value in terms of a cost-effective vacation. Vacationers can be smart and save plenty when going away to this area for a break. The first thing is to approach the various travel agencies to see what deals are on offer currently.

Traveling off season is much cheaper than traveling in peak season. Vacationers are able to save as much as forty percent of the holiday in this way. For this area, that period is from May to mid December. Another time to capitalize on cheaper prices is the summer months.
Airlines help people to receive good discounts. Most of the islands offer value packages in order to get travelers to their islands. A few of the islands are Nassau, The Dominican Republic, Aruba and Puerto Rico. When you book a flight it is wise to book a combination package for the accommodation with the flight ticket as this will allow travelers a larger discount.

Resort chains are in the process of expanding on the islands. Holiday makers are then given the opportunity to make use of loyalty points and enjoy certain privileges. When enough loyalty points have been accrued, vacationers are able to then qualify for free getaways to the islands.

The fresh water system formed by the Great Lakes and their connecting channels is the largest on earth. Clearly seen from the moon, their interesting shapes look erie, one of them even looks like the head of a wolf. Fed by many rivers, should their combined water be spread evenly, they would cover the entire United States under 9.5 feet of water.

The Canadian Rockies offer much for water enthusiasts with a boat license, and Alberta has over 600 lakes from with to choose, for jet boating and scuba diving. Surfing the rapids on a waterboard is a great sport to the addition, and enjoyed in Alberta as a favored pastime of old and young. 15-day Celebration of the Chinese New Year

8 Jan 2011 Asia

Chinese New Year is the most important of the traditional Chinese holidays. This year on February 3rd the country will be entering a year of the creative, however incredibly private Rabbit. Since the Chinese New Year or Lunar New Year is based on the Chinese calendar which is partially being founded on lunar cycles, this guarantees that the date is not static on western calendars. The festival typically starts on the first day of the first month in the Chinese calendar and finishes with Lantern Festival that is on the 15th day.

It is Chinese New Year custom to thoroughly tidy the house. Prior to New Year’s Eve, the house ought to be tidied in preparation. This represents the sweeping out of miss fortune and the wishful invitation to good luck. When window frames and doors are given a new coat of paint, typically red, are also Chinese New Year traditions. Decorations are hung up around the house and oranges and tangerines are put out, symbolizing good luck for the New Year.

It is traditional for all money owed to be paid by the New Year. No money should be loaned out at this time or whoever lends money will be lending all the year through.

Customarily, New Year in China is a time when families assemble – travelling far and wide to visit as many relatives as possible. Every member of the family sits up all night, passing the time by watching television or playing board games. It is tradition to leave every light in the house on. After the meal, adults give out red envelopes containing money to the children and people who are married. Unlike in the Western world, where people give material items as presents, in China, money is typically the default gift given to others. They will put these under their pillows when they sleep as they believe this may gives them hope to have pleasant dreams and they will become richer next year.

Another element of the celebrations are the dances, such as the Lion Dance and the Dragon Dance. On the one hand, Lion Dance is one of the most essential dances of the Chinese New Year. Accompanied by loud music customarily played by drum, gong, and cymbals, the Lion Dance is carried out during the first few days of the Chinese New Year by two talented dancers who play the tail and head of the lion, and is believed to provide good luck to the areas it visits. The lion dance has it’s origin in legend. A mythic beast called a Nian turned up in China and terrorized the people. The only being which kill the Nian was the lion and his triumph is celebrated in the dance itself.

The the other hand, the Dragon Dance is the almost certainly the most renowned custom of the Chinese New Year, and it is carried out with plenty of dancers all playing one part of the long dragon. This dance is being founded on the legend that the dragon regulates rainfall. By honoring the dragon with the traditional dance the country will be blessed with enough rain to maintain their crops. The right amount of of crops will bring forth wealth to the farmers and the community they serve.

To burn firecrackers and to let off at the time of midnight is an age-old Chinese New Year custom. This Chinese New Year tradition represents a lot of things. They are said to bang loud enough to wake up the dragon, causing it to fly and bring rainfall.

After New Year’s Day, dirt and garbage should be thrown out of the back door.

West Coast Trail, Vancouver Island, British Columbia

21 Jun 2010 North America

One of Canada’s’ most notable hiking trails can be found on Vancouver Island and it is called West Coast trail. This 75-kilometre coastal route situated between Bamfield and Port Renfrew was originally created at the beginning of the 19th century as a lifesaving trail for stranded mariners. The tail is located in the southern section of the Pacific Rim national park.

Before leaving book in British Columbia accommodation.

Wildlife on the West Coast Trail includes cougars, bears, wolves, orcas and gray whales, seals, sea lions, and eagles. There are also many tidal pools on the beach section of the trail, where trail hikers can see a variety of molluscs, sea anemones, and fish.

During certain periods, there is the chance of seeing but they should not be approached, as the mother may desert the pup.

Hikers can choose to start the trail from whichever end they want. The southern part of the trail is much more challenging than the northern one. An overnight permit has to be purchased by anyone wishing to spend the night in the park.

The trail winds along old growth trees, waterfalls, streams and thick patches of deep mud. Running beside the Pacific Ocean, the trail includes sand and pebble beaches, headlands, and exposed shelf and boulders even at low tide.

Well designed campgrounds along the way contain “Bear Boxes” for safe handling of hikers’ food, an outhouse and usually a striking view of the Pacific Ocean and Olympic Peninsula. Please note that some of the beach areas can be flooded during high tides; tide tables are issued with maps by Parks Canada staff to all prior to starting the trek.

To go cross some rivers, hikers has to ride in hand powered cable cars; others are bridged by logs. There are two waterways requiring a boat to cross: the Gordon River, at the southern trailhead, and the Nitinat Narrows, near the midpoint of the trail. A ferry service across the Nitinat Narrows is being operated by the local First Nation and the cost is NOT inclusive in the trail permit.

You can begin or end your hike at certain points and arrange to be picked up by the trail bus, Water Taxi or by float plane. Juan De Fuca Express Water Taxi makes daily voyages along this section of the coast with stops at each end. Salt Spring Air flies in and out of the trail most of the season.

Now you may be wondering where you need to go to find additional information on this. Click here for additional information on the West Coast Trail? To enlarge your search to the coast of BC in general go here! Around Vancouver Island
